Lesson Recap for Sunday, October 22, 2006

This week's lesson was taken from Matthew 9:9-13 and was entitled "Matthew, the Tax Collector". Today's challenge was to accept all who seek Jesus and to draw others closer to Him regardless of whether or not we think they are worthy of being saved. Jesus' church is filled with people the rest of the world rejects. We need to remember that while the world seems to have certain standards that individuals must live up to in order to be accepted, Jesus places no boundaries dictating what types of people can follow Him. To help us with this, we looked at the names on the poster below and thought of the personal traits or characteristics each of the individuals listed had that make them unlikely to be followers of Jesus. Although the people listed don't meet our standards of living as an accepted follower of Jesus, we need to remember that we also fall short and are saved through Jesus alone. The scene for this week can be found at http://www.standardpub.com/thescene/thesceneOctober15hst.pdf . The secret scripture game will return again this week as will most of our class who were attending Exalt! in PEI. We hope you all had fun. You were all missed this morning.
